Is it legal, in the state if California, to be told you may wear your bridal rings to work?
I am starting a new job next week, and during the interview I was told that I may not wear my part of my wedding rings. I normally wear my simple wedding band and my engagement ring set, and was told that my engagement ring was not acceptable to wear at work.
Is this even legal? I have never heard of such a thing and would hate to have to put my ring “up” while working. I can understand other jewelry, but I can’t seem to grasp this policy.

I just can not imagine this being legal, mostly because I have never heard of such a thing. Is there anything in the labor codes about this subject?
The only possible reason that I can think of prohibiting rings would have to do with sanitation concerns. As a cashier, you wouldn’t be handling food but perhaps the mgmt wishes you to be available for food-handling occasions. If you like the job, why not go along to get along. You might be in need of favors from the mgmt later on.
